The Oba of Benin, Omo N'Oba N'Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, invited traditional doctors (native doctors), priests, priestesses, community leaders, village heads, enigies, chiefs and the members of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIT) to address the issue of illegal migration, prostitution, human trafficking and kidnappings in Edo State.

The conference was held at the Oba's Palace in Benin City on Friday, March 9, 2018.

During the meeting, the Oba of Benin led the traditional doctors, priests and priestesses to pronounce a curse on all those who engage human trafficking. Any person who engages in prostitution from that day when the conference was held would also face similar fate in the hands of the ancestors.

Likewise, a curse was placed on anyone, particularly traditional doctors, priests and priestesses who coerce the victims of human trafficking to take a oaths of secrecy, loyalty and obligation to their sponsors.

The Monarch also pronounced that the oaths previously placed on the victims of human trafficking by tradional doctors, priests and priestesses who serve as agents of huma traffickers are hitherto withrawn.

Sources close to learned that the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki had pleaded with the Oba's Palace to help him to address the problems of illegal migration and huma trafficking in Edo State.

After the Oba, the priests, priestesses and tradional doctors placed the curse on prostitution, kidnapping and all those who promote human trafficking in the state, Governor Obaseki said he was satisfield with the role Oba Ewuare II played on the issue.
