Edwin Clark's call for emergency rule is wrong - APGA
The Abia State branch of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) says the elder statesman and Ijaw leader, Mr. Chief Edwin Clark's call for state of emergency in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa States is not appropriate for the country.
During a press briefing in Umuahia on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, the secretary of the party in the state, Elder Sunday Onukwubiri said imposing a state of emergency in the three northern states would mean returning Nigeria to military rule.
His words, “I wonder why at this time Chief Edwin Clark will be calling for state of emergency. When you call for state of emergency in three states in Nigeria, invariably you are calling the army to take over.
“It is also showing that federal government of Nigeria is not doing much to stop terrorist attacks in the north.
“We are talking about election coming in 2019. That statement by Clark is trying to truncate democracy, because we are saying the government at the centre must be changed."
