Benue crisis: kidnapped police officer found dead, body parts removed



One of the police officers recently kidnapped by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Benue State has been found dead. In addition, his eyes, ears and nose were removed.

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) in Benue State confirmed the murder of the police officer on Monday, February 12, 2018. 

Last week, four policemen were reportedly kidnapped and their security vehicle was burned after suspected Fulani gunmen ambushed them in Logo LGA of the state.

The police officers were said to be returning from a trip to one of the remote villages when suspected herdsmen opened fire on them in Tse Akpam village, near Azege town.

Confirming this latest development, the police authority in Benue said,

“The Command regrets to announce the death of one of its NCO, who was one of the two remaining missing policemen in the attack of 9/2/2018.

“He was found brutally slaughtered, with eyes and ears as well as nose removed. We pray that God Almighty grants him eternal rest.

“However, the police remain committed to its statutory and daunting obligation of ensuring security as well as protection of lives and property of all, please.”
